Stretching (width, spot stretching, balloon patches)

Your footwear can be modified in many different ways with a technique called Shoe Stretching. This technique is prescribed for individuals who require more width at one or more areas of their footwear or to relieve specific points/pressure in their feet.

Here are the different types of stretching we do at Stand Your Ground:

👉 General Width: This width stretch increases the general width for the shoe, and specifically across the ball of the foot.

👉 Spot Stretch: This stretch is done on a specific spot of shoe to accommodate for hammer toes, bunions, or any deformity that requires extra space to reduce any pressure over the top of the foot.

👉 Balloon Patch: This is when material is fastened over a hole made in the upper to accommodate a bony prominence over the top of the foot (hammer toes, bunions, or any deformity that requires extra space to reduce any pressure over the top of the foot).

What are the benefits?

  • It can provide relief for pressure associated conditions such as Morton's Neuroma, Hallux Valgus or Bunions.
  • Increases overall volume of footwear to accommodate your feet.
  • Provides an easy, comfortable option for individuals who have one foot slightly wider than the other.

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions about this footwear modification!
