Biomechanical Evaluation and Gait Analysis

The Pedorthists at STAND YOUR GROUND offer a biomechanical assessment that is a critical analysis of the foot and lower limb and all of its moving parts. A detailed history offers initial insight and is followed by a series of range of motion (ROM) and muscles strength tests. A video gait assessment is performed, then a variety of personalized treatment plans will be discussed as needed.

Custom Made and Off-the-shelf Foot Orthotics

Custom and OTS foot orthotics can be discussed with our experts. If you are looking for custom foot orthotics we recommend an assessment with one of our Pedorthists for a full Biomechanical Evaluation & Gait Analysis. If OTS foot orthotics are desired, book a One2One evaluation with one of our Fit Experts.

Personalized Orthopaedic Shoe Fittings

Our state-of-the-art technology called the FitScan system, available to us thanks to our partnership with the Kintec group, is used during your 30-minute footwear appointment.

The FitScan system will produce a 3D model of your foot that helps our team better understand both your foot size and shape. From there, you will be provided with resources and education on how to continue to care for your foot health, and with footwear that supports your needs.

Our fit experts may also use a brannock device to measure the foot length and width for an accurate shoe fit. Various footwear features are considered including the type of upper material (leather, suede, cloth), style of closure (lace, Velcro, buckles), and availability of sizing (extra depths and widths). When off-the-shelf footwear still won’t work, extensive modifications at our in house lab OR custom can be considered.

Follow-Up and Adjustments

Following a custom foot orthotic fitting or in-depth footwear fit it may be necessary to follow up with us for an adjustment. Adjustments and fine tuning are a normal part of the process. In many cases, With our on-site lab equipment, adjustments can be done during your appointment time. Sometimes just a small adjustment is required for great success.

Referrals to Other Paramedical Services

A pedorthic treatment plan specifically designed for a patient may include referrals to other paramedical professionals such as physiotherapy, chiropractor, massage therapy, athletic therapy, foot care nurse, chiropody, etc. A positive patient outcome is the end goal of all treatment plans and thus a team of professionals is sometimes required. With patient permission, pertinent information is shared for discussion.
